1. Coki Point Beach – St. Thomas, North Shore- white sand beach on the north East side of St. Thomas. Popular for snorkeling and diving. Snack bars are present on the beach for light snack or cold drinks.
2. Waterlemon Cay – Watermelon Cay is known as one of the most popular snorkeling spots on St. John. This area is surrounded by a rich marine ecosystem with tropical fish, sea turtles, rays, dolphins and sharks. You can swim around the Cay and see all different coral and sea life on all sides.
3. Buck Island – Buck Island is two miles south of St. Thomas. It is a small uninhabited island. This area is known for its long underwater coral reef. This provides an ecosystem for over 250 fish species and other marine life such as spotted eagle ray, nurse sharks and also turtles.
4. Sapphire Beach, East end of St. Thomas – This is a favorite spot with beaches of fine white sand and beautiful views of St. John and offshore cays. This area offers excellent snorkeling at the reef.
5. Lovango Cay – Private Island located North of St. John. Accessible only by boat. The water here stays calm and offers very good snorkeling. Nurse sharks are often found resting here during the day. Island wildlife includes numerous bird species and goats.
6. Water Island – Water Island is the fourth largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. This is located within the Charlotte Amalie harbor. This is a wonderful area to enjoy kayaking, exploring the shoreline, swim and snorkel.
7. Christmas Cove – Christmas Cove is located at the west end of Great St. James. It is protected from the wind and waves of the Carribean Sea. The crystal blue waters provide a great snorkel experience with diverse sea life such as sea turtles, conch, and spotted eagle ray. This is the home to the popular floating pizza boat- Pizza Pi.
8. Secret Harbor – Secret Harbor is a small, lovely beach nestled in a quiet protected bay. Water is usually very calm and perfect for swimming and paddleboarding. Snorkeling is good anong the rocky coastline.
9. Lime out Cove, Coral Bay – Coral Bay Harbor is located on the southeastern shore of the island of St. John. Lime out is a popular floating taco bar located on the south east side of St. John.
10. Great St. James, Little St. James – these private islands are owned by a billionaire. Great St. James has Christmas Cove, which got its name from Christopher Columbus anchoring his 18 ships on his second voyage to the new world. Story says that he lost his anchor in this cove on Christmas Day, so therefore he named it Christmas Cove. it has tons of snorkel spots and is home to the famous “Pizza Pi” floating pizza boat.
Little St. James is also a great snorkeling spot and has usually very calm and protected waters.
11. Jost Van Dyke, BVI – This is the smallest of the main 4 islands of the BVI. This island is best known for its beach bars. This is the home to Soggy Dollar, Foxy’s and Ivan’s stress free bar. The water in White Bay is so incredibly clear and beautiful that you can spend the whole day just looking at it.
12. Cruz Bay, St. John – Cruz Bay is located on the West Coast of St. John. The beach there is full of bars and shops with a designated swimming area. Some of the popular destination spots include Rum hut, Longboard, and High Tide.
13. Maho Bay, St. John – Maho Bay is one of the gentest beaches on St. John. Perfect place to paddle board, Kayak, and snorkel. You will be sure to find some sea turtles as you explore this beautiful bay.
14. Francis Bay, St. John – Francis bay is adjacent to Maho Bay and is a lot quieter than the popular Maho Bay. It also has the gentle waters and great appeal for paddle boarding and Kayaking.
15. Cinnamon Bay, St. John – This is a big and beautiful bay with great snorkeling around the small cay just off shore.
16. Honeymoon Bay, St. John – With white sand and crystal blue waters, Honeymoon Beach is one of the most iconic spots on St John. Enjoy snorkeling with turtles, paddle boarding, kayaking, or going ashore to enjoy the popular beach bar, Bikinis on the Beach.
17. Salt Pond, St. John – Salt Pond is along St. John’s south shore with crystal clear waters that are calm as can be. A perfect spot to relax in the serene cove, swim, paddleboard and Kayak. If you wish to be more adventurous, you can paddle to shore and hike the popular Rams Head Trail.
